Hayfestival
Sarah,Janni and I return with our driver Andy Soutter(author of The Drive-thru Museum) and our children-tomorrows hope for 'book reading'at about 10 o'clock on Sunday, a small pile of books and very sore feet. Realizing yet again that a day trip is not enough and that we could easily camp and enjoy a two day excursion and have more time in the book shops and more of a chance with the lectures, and see many more of the outdoor/fringe performances and enjoy a glass of wine by the river and... well we may need a week.
The festival site has moved further out of town, so thank goodness the weather was kind to us.
I spoke to Ros Bartlett from The federation of children's book groups and told her about our crossover project, she was very enthusiastic about the benefit's of us setting up a children's book group, she suggested that it could be started with the federation providing a children's author to talk to a group as a way of kicking off some interest and giving us £200 for children's books, I couldn't help thinking Phillip Pullman but in reality I'm sure it's all pie in the sky but a fun thought all the same!
Thankyou again Andy for driving us to Hay, it was an education!
Thankyou Kate and Sophie for putting up with the long journey home.
