Will this help us! Or just make me feel more inadequate.

First thoughts from Vicky(from...http://www.themanbookerprize.com/blog/)
Purely coincidentally I came across this quote from Samuel Johnson (quoted by Colin Dexter in “The Way through the Woods” - so don’t think I’m being too intellectual:
“He that reads and grows no wiser seldom suspects his own deficiency, but complains of hard words and obscure sentences, and asks why books are written which cannot be understood…”
Posted in The Reading Groups,

I have just received this.........

Dear Cathy Merrow-Smith, The Man Booker Prize Blog is now live on the website. The blog will be contributed to by several members of different library reading groups across the United Kingdom. The purpose of the blog is to give people an insight into the process of being a Man Booker Prize Library Reading Group - reactions to the process itself, reactions to the books they are reading, and to the differing views of the members of the book groups. Have a look for yourself at: http://www.themanbookerprize.com/blog/ Best wishes Administrator

This is my first attempt at adding photos to the blog, I know it's not book related but an evocation of autumn in the south of France, courtesy of my sister-in-law Ruth Phillips. Here goes!

Success but abit small!! Now I will have to find some pictures of authors and book jackets.

'Oh lucky you'

Sunshine in the capital, today we have our first sunshine/rain free day since you left so the spirits are lifted alittle. No one turned up for book club last night so I hightailed it home about 9.30 watched the end of 'who do you think you are?' about Barbara Windsor. How sad is that?

Sunny London

Greetings to you all from the side of the UK that gets less rain!

I'm missing you all and have to report that I haven't done any reading yet because I've been trying to get the work finished and unpack at the same time. But thanks very much to Hilary for 'Restraint of Beasts' - I will soon be an official member of the book group once I've read that!

Thanks also for the beautiful card with the images of the area I grew to love and for the great party! Sorry not all of you could be there - we'll have to have another to make up for it!

If you're ever in this part of the world, please let me know. You're all welcome to stay but bring your ear plugs because the Blackwall Tunnel road is pretty noisy.

Doh!

I could always post them to you, if I could get in. I don't know how long they would take to arrivebut I am more than will to try. Cathy
